The Baker’s Cottage

This little spot has been in Kingsland for a number of years and I can easily say it would be in my top three bakeries in Auckland. Not too far from the Kingsland strip, the Baker’s Cottage appeals to a broad range of people. Students, professionals, truckies and people waiting nervously for WOF’s (VTNZ is across the road) can all be seen here.

When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the range of food that’s available. You’ve got your standard pies and lamingtons but the thing that caught my eye are the filled rolls. To use a cliché, the filled rolls are on steroids. Lamb and rosemary, chicken and camembert… the list goes on.

For me today, it was a chicken roll with cranberry sauce and custard éclair to finish. I make no bones about it, it was awesome. Tasty. Fresh. Delicious. The prices are definitely a little bit more than your usual bakery but you get what you pay for and the Baker’s Cottage doesn’t disappoint. I thoroughly recommend this place.

Huge call I know but the Baker’s Cottage is on a par with Meadowbank Bakery, if not better.

Get in and try for yourself!

Baker’s Cottage used to be Connons Bakery, a long time brilliant spot in Kingsland. The new look place has kept the tradition of awesome toasted sandwiches. They are huge because they slice the loaf lengthwise to make perhaps the longest toasted sandwiches in Auckland. Plus they are really generous with the fillings.
