So this is street food, or carpark food even. Mexi Kai is a food truck that sits semi-permanently in that car park on the newly pedestrianised Elliott St, and does burritos, and a wide range of tacos. The burritos go for $10 each, and you can get three tacos for $12.

| Mexi Kai’s pork burrito – I really need to read this more carefully |
I went with the pulled pork burrito and it was fantastic, with soft, tasty pork that had obviously been slow cooked for hours. The tortilla was fresh and soft and the filling and salsa included black beans, cucumber, corn and a decent hot sauce that was actually HOT (a key element I look for in hot sauce). There’s all kinds of other flavours of burrito and taco to explore too.
It’s great to see Mexican that is not refried bean and cheese based (*cough*), centrally located, reasonably priced and available as a takeaway. It’s also great to see a food truck – food trucks are quite the thing in the States and now Europe, and we want some of that international-sophistication-action, don’t we? Don’t we? To me, this is one of the most attractive lunch options in the CBD at the moment. Recommended.
